Bacteriostatic water is a water-based substance, which is made up of largely sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. This substance is primarily used for the dissolution or dilution of medicines. The reason as to why it is referred to as bacteriostatic water is because the benzyl alcohol prevents bacteria growth, and allows a vial to be re-entered several times. The benzyl alcohol bacteriostatic agent inhibits bacterial and fungal proliferation, enabling repeated aseptic withdrawal from a single 10 ml vial over an extended laboratory use period — a critical property for multi-dose peptide reconstitution protocols. BAC water is chemically inert with respect to most lyophilised peptides and proteins, making it the standard reconstitution medium for research compounds including BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, and other injectable peptide formats. pH is maintained within a range compatible with peptide stability.
